Overview

Northrig instruments rotating equipment on offshore platforms and wind installations, and forecasts failure far enough ahead that the repair can be scheduled around a vessel window instead of triggering one.

Why this exists

Offshore, the cost of a failure is dominated by access, not by the part. An unplanned intervention means chartering a vessel and waiting on weather; the same repair, scheduled into a planned transit, costs a fraction of that. Operators already have the sensor data. What they lack is a forecast with enough lead time and enough calibration to bet a maintenance schedule on.

Northrig runs on-platform, tolerates weeks of lost connectivity, and reports confidence intervals rather than alerts — because a warning an engineer cannot size is a warning they will learn to ignore.

Why we hold it

Long sales cycles, hard physical constraints, and a small number of very durable customers. Uncomfortable on a fund clock, and well suited to a balance sheet that does not have one.
