Overview
Corvid reads submissions, prices risk, and adjudicates claims in specialty lines — marine cargo, contractor’s equipment, inland marine — where the documents are unstructured, the volumes are moderate, and the incumbent process is a senior underwriter reading PDFs.
Why this exists
Specialty insurance is too small for the large carriers to automate and too document-heavy for the general-purpose tools to handle. A single submission arrives as an email thread with fourteen attachments in four formats, and the judgment applied to it lives in one person’s head after twenty years on the desk.
Corvid encodes that judgment as an auditable decision path: every quote and every denial traces back to the specific clause, schedule line, and loss-history record that produced it. Underwriters review exceptions rather than typing everything.
Why we hold it
The regulatory surface that makes this market slow to enter is the same surface that makes it durable once entered. Corvid is filed and approved in the states that matter, and every adjudicated claim improves the pricing model behind it.
Current focus
- Expansion into contractor’s equipment and builder’s risk
- Sub-hour turnaround on bound quotes for broker partners
- Reinsurance reporting generated directly from the decision record
